Sunday
September 5th
7:00 PM
By complete coincidence on Labor day weekend in 2005 we where enjoying a small Sunday jam session at the Barn when one by one the Queen Bees of the Cleveland blues and jazz scene came for an unexpected visit and a small audience of 50 guest or so where treated to an amazing magical evening of music. Fifteen year old Rick and eighteen year old brother Rob Muzik where the only drummer and guitar player respectively in the house that night and ended up playing wonderfully for nearly four hours without much break. Ki Allen, Becky Boyd and Mary Bridgett Davies later joined by Charlita Anderson-White and even later by gospel singer Kim Bryon, Rob & Rick's mom.
The following spring and summer I chatted with Dot Martin and Chris Kuwamoto whom had been in the audience that night and we hatched a plan to recreate the magic of that evening.  Here we are five years later and the show has been a hit ever since.

Welcome to the 2010 edition of The Broadside of the Barn. This year we celebrate the 5th anniversary of our most popular annual show with two returning guest from the original show back in 2005.

This years headliner is our own alumnus Mary Bridgett Davies whose been enjoying great success as the star of Broadway's Love Janis and touring  with Janice Joplin's own band Big Brother and the Holding Company. Also returning this year is one of Cleveland's most beloved blues and scat singing gals Becky Boyd. Another crowd favorite and very talented artist Tracy Marie returns for another spin at the show. Tracy is recovering from recent surgery and told me she's can't wait to do the show again. This years newbie is Barbara Barret whom I also caught doing a little scatting and pretty singing at a recent jazz session here in the barn.  All of the ladies will be backed by The venerable Bad Boys of Blues with Michael Bay, Michael Barrick and Jim Wall and special guest.

Also joining us for a few opening songs will be our own Chris Kuwamoto who's been practicing her heart out for weeks here. Chris will be joined by Andrew Fleck and DC Carnes.
